Abelon Systems to Present at 2015 Scottish Device Developer Conference

Abelon news item

Edinburgh based embedded systems company Abelon has announced that it will be once again presenting at The Scottish Device Developers’ Conference to be held this year on June 4th at Uphall.

Abelon Systems Managing Director Ian Smith will present a talk on developing embedded systems for harsh environments using examples from case studies from a number of recent client projects to highlight some of the challenges raised by these hostile environments and the solutions used to overcome them.

“Designing products for use in marine or subsea applications requires not only attention to the mechanical design but aspects of electronic and software design also. Offshore deployment, whether above or below the surface, can present some of the biggest challenges a product designer has to face” said Ian Smith.

“Seemingly unrelated factors can come into play, requiring the designer to have to anticipate a variety of unusual or abnormal scenarios in order to equip the system with all the attributes to withstand the extremes of weather, temperature and other environmental demands.”

The Scottish Device Developers Conference is a one-day event for engineers, designers and computer scientists working to develop intelligent systems and devices and will take place on the 4th June, at Uphall. It is intended that the Conference will enable developers to explore new tools and technologies, discover new suppliers and learn from industry experts.

Consisting of a vendor exhibition, a broad range of technical presentations and several half-day technical workshops, The Scottish Device Developers’ Conference is expected to prove a worthwhile and productive day for those working in the field of embedded systems and mission critical computing.

“We are excited to be running this event in Scotland and to have Abelon Systems presenting,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. “There is a lot of impressive research and development taking place in this region, so we feel sure that this event will be seen as an attractive opportunity for developers to further enhance their skills and knowledge. It will also be an important opportunity for them to meet leading tools and technology vendors from around the world, all under one roof.”
