Situation

Our client, at the leading edge of digital media transmission and reception, required a means of remotely monitoring, controlling and testing their equipment.

Abelon were able to provide a solution based on existing, proven technology from the telecommunications sector.

Solution

Abelon built a Microsoft Windows application based around the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The application provided secure management, configuration, and test capabilities from any communications-enabled location.

Deployment of the management application enables the large populations of transmission and receiving equipment to be managed from a central location. Field support costs are reduced and customer satisfaction increased. Scarce expertise is used more efficiently by allowing support staff to remotely isolate and diagnose system problems without the need for on site visits. This is particularly important where physical access to the equipment itself is limited.
